Chief and Executive (Issuing) Editor of scientific and practical journal Service and Tourism: Current Challenges (since 2015) and network scientific journal Service in Russia and Abroad (since 2016), a member of the editorial boards of a number of leading Russian and foreign scientific publications on tourism, service, regional studies, pedagogical technologies.

The editorial policy of scientific and practical journal Service and Tourism: Current Challenges and network scientific journal Service in Russia and Abroad headed by O.E. Afanasiev is aimed at generalization, preservation, and multiplication of the past achievements. The journals are constantly extending their presence on the Internet and on the international citation bases, they cover actual issues of tourism and hospitality development.

Oleg E. Afanasiev is a specialist in regional and domestic tourism, development technologies of certain kinds of tourism, security issues in tourism, technologies of tourist design, information technologies in tourism, tourist infographics, tourist mapping, tourist toponymic systems, pedagogical technologies in tourism, innovation technologies in tourism and hospitality, topical excursion routes, experience economy in the tourist and excursion field.

Organizer and Speaker at a number of webinars, forums, conferences, seminars on theme-based issues of inbound and domestic tourism development, sustainable development of tourist territories, tourist mapping of territories.

A total number of the scientific publication is over 300, including 4 monographs, 12 study guides, articles in the international publications. The author of a number of study courses in the excursion sphere.

I also characterize myself as “a progressive conservative,” I have work experience at the school and tourist center for children and youth, I planted trees, built the church, starred in films and television programs, I raise my son, collect impressions, postage stamps and phyloproducts, travel ... But these are other stories :-)
