Abstract

"Russian Baltic" is the only tourist macroregion represented in the State Program "Tourism Development" by a single subject of the Russian Federation - the Kaliningrad region.

The Kaliningrad region, as a tourist destination, consistently holds leading positions in various rankings. For instance, according to research by the Association of Tour Operators (ATOR), Kaliningrad was in the TOP-5 tourist destinations in the summer of 2023, where tourists return most often - along with Saint Petersburg, Moscow, the Caucasian Mineral Waters, and the Black Sea resorts. In addition, for the second year in a row, Kaliningrad is among the top five most popular autumn tourist destinations. In 2023, Kaliningrad took third place in the list of cities for travel, compiled by the travel service "Tutu.ru," based on a survey of leading Russian travel journalists, bloggers, and photographers.

The educational-scientific cluster "Institute of Management and Territorial Development" is a new structural unit of the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University. The cluster's staff - lawyers, economists, geographers - have knowledge and experience that are in demand in expert activities in state authorities. The materials presented in this thematic issue of the journal cover current issues in the field of tourism and hospitality in the Kaliningrad region, as well as some questions of territorial development of this direction in the regions of Russia.
